FOLLOWING a Christmas Carol Service at Police Headquarters, Devizes Wiltshire Police Chief Constable, Brian Moore has unveiled a memorial stained glass window at police headquarters as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have lost their lives in the line of duty over the last 170 years of policing within Wiltshire. As well as recognising the sacrifices and dedication shown by all officers and staff within Wiltshire Police. Wiltshire Police have been running a campaign to raise the funds to buy three stained glass panels since February 2009.

£2,600 was raised which entirely covers the cost of installing the panes, a plaque and any maintenance required. All the contributions were made privately across the force and by members of the public. In September 2009, a competition was launched within the force to design the windows and the Chief Constable presented the winner Claire Lawrie with a certificate at the service. Chief Constable Brian Moore said: “This important memorial will act as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have lost their lives and will also recognise the continued dedication and commitment shown by our staff. I wish to convey my sincere thanks to everyone who has contributed to the fundraising appeal.”
